Departure from The pier outside Clarion Hotel – The Edge, Tromsø.

The Silent Whale Watching tour starts at 8:00 am.

A morning departure from Tromsø towards the island of Skjervøy* On the way there, take in the breathtaking views of frozen landscapes. You will have a great view from the comfortable, panoramic lounges and multi-level decks. A selection of food and drinks is available for purchase onboard.

The ships are designed for sailing through Arctic waters with minimal impact on the environment. The boat has a hybrid engine, used to reach the whale’s feeding grounds. As we near the whales, we switch on a silent electric engine. This allows us to view the whales up close in their natural habitat without disturbing them. We’ll launch an underwater drone and hydrophone that captures the images and sounds of the whales. See and hear them as they work together to hunt in the herring-rich fjords.

With a silent cruise, we have the opportunity to listen to the ocean using a hydrophone, an underwater microphone. On this Silent Whale Watching cruise, we use this to capture whales communicating.

*The duration of the trip is dependant on the whale migration patterns and can range from 6-7 hours. We cannot guarantee viewings, but we always do our best!
