Join the English speaking authentic Sami guides for a Reindeer Sledding tour. They come from a Sami family with long reindeer herding traditions. Have a sleigh ride like no other. Enjoy an unforgettable experience of pure reindeer sledding. Also an introduction to Sami culture. The Samis are the only indigenous people in Europe. They have been nomads in the Arctic territories of Russia, Finland, Sweden, and Norway.
After a 20-minute drive from Tromsø city centre. You will visit the Sami camp located in Kvaløya where the reindeer and sleds are waiting. You will then receive an introduction to reindeer sledding. Then join the Sami guides for an unforgettable 20-minute experience of reindeer sledding.
Back at the camp, you can learn more about the reindeer and even feed the herd of reindeer. If you are lucky they will eat from the palm of your hand. Step inside the lavvu, a traditional Sami tent. In there warm drinks and a traditional Sami hot meal will be cooked over the fire and served. After the meal, gather around the fire and listen to stories about Sami culture. The life as a reindeer herder and listen to the traditional Sami song called ‘joik’. If the conditions at the camp are good you may even have the opportunity to see the Northern Lights.

NB: Reindeer sledding is depending on the snow conditions. If canceled due to lack of snow, the tour will be changed to “Feeding the Reindeer” and the difference in prices will be refunded.
