The Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis are a natural light display in the sky mainly seen in arctic regions. They are a result of disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by solar winds which results in beautiful displays of colours.
NORWAY
The town of Tromsø, famously used as the Gateway to the Arctic by all the famous Polar explorers, is the perfect place for seeing the Northern Lights in Norway. The culture in this town is vibrant with many bars, restaurants, and places to see such as the Arctic Cathedral and Polaria aquarium. Additionally, there is an abundance of arctic activities to do such as Dog Sledding, Snowmobiling, Cable Cars, Reindeer Sledding, Whale Watching and more. ICELAND
The city of Akureyri known as “The Capital of North Iceland” is a great location for seeing the Northern Lights. This city features a thriving cultural scene with multiple bars and restaurants. Northern Iceland also features many beautiful lakes and waterfalls. If you’re in luck, you may even see some whales on a Whale Watching cruise. South Iceland, more specifically around Reykjavik, features many Ice caves, waterfalls, black sand beaches, and hot springs to explore with Northern Lights sightings also visible in the evenings.

FINLAND
Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lapland is a great place to see the Northern Lights. Rovaniemi is known as the home town of Santa Claus and features Santa Claus Village along with many more Santa related locations city-wide. Additionally, there is an Arctic Zoo and also a hill called Ounasvaara for mountain biking and hiking in warm months with skiing and snowboarding available in the winter.
