There are things to do in the area year-round. The sea is just 70 metres from the lodge, while hiking can be started right from the doorstep.
Autumn and winter are the best times to spot whales and the northern lights. Northern lights can be seen between August and April, while whales are usually only around from November to January. Though you used to hear them roaming in this area, most of the humpback whales and orcas have moved further North to Lyngen, Skjervøy, and Kvænangen. Professional guides can help you get a closer view of whales on safaris in Kvaløya, a 15-minute drive away. The popular sport in winter in the area is skiing, though there are plenty of other options available.
Summer is the best time for staying up late and celebrating the Midnight Sun like the locals! Warmer weather conditions allow for longer outdoor trips by kayak, bicycle, or foot, as well as climbing on the mountains.
As a reformed café, the lodge includes:
The lodge is 15 minutes by car from the airport and 20-25 minutes from the centre of Tromsø.
Food shops & cute local stores are an easy 15-minute walk, including a café, jeweller’s, and hairdresser. It is worth checking out Bryggejentene, one of Tromsø’s most popular stores.
